Place2Be Scotland

A few days ago I wrote a post about the amazing work that Place2Be carry out and I shared some of the statistics relating to the work carried out in England.  Today I am going to share the statistics from the Scottish branch.

Place2Be is an award-winning charity providing school-based emotional and mental health services. Place2Be seeks to improve the prospects of children aged 4-14 years, by tackling the complex social and emotional issues that often lie behind the challenging behaviour and educational under performance.

  • 90% of young offenders had a mental disorder as a child
  • 50% of those with lifetime mental health issues first experience symptoms by the age of 14

Why work with Place2Be?
  • Unique school-based service provides direct access to mental health support - without stigma at a point when children need it most
  • On-site expertise to advise staff on social, emotional and mental health, ASN and child protection issues
  • Work with parents and carers to explore their child’s emotional well being and their own needs, including advice and referral to other services where relevant
  • A cost effective service underpinned by a rigorous evaluation model.

We work in 257 schools across the UK reaching 105,000 children

One in 10 children has a mental health problem.

    1. They are a fantastic organisation. I think people sometimes forget some children so live with mental health conditions. Knowing the kids have someone to turn to for things such as bullying or just feeling sad in general is a wonderful thing to have in schools, just wish more schools had it in place.x

    1. It is a scary figure, especially as it is children. I agree there is a need for more initiatives such as this one. I am in the process of contacting the Scottish parliament regarding waiting times for psychological therapies and the need for more support groups/networks x

  9. Sounds like they do a well needed amazing job. It is a good job that there are things like this to catch kids, when the government don't
