Return To Education

 

Back in school, I did pass my exams but I look back and wish the results were better than that I had more of an effort. A teacher told me that I would amount to nothing and all I would be good for is taking care of my future children or be a nanny. Personally I think thought that was awful as being a mother or working in childcare is hard! At that time (1998) I wanted to work in travel and I went on to gain three travel qualifications (NC, HNC and HND).  After working in travel for a few years, I realised it was not for me. I then went on to work in customer service, mainly within finance. It was in 2008 that I made the choice to return to education.

Studying With The Open University

 

I always felt like I had been missing out on something.  I had been to college and studied Travel and Tourism for 3 years, graduating with a HND in 2001. Returned to college in 2008 to study Access to Social Sciences but something still didn't sit right with me.  Fast forward to 2015, I signed up to The Open University.

As Of Tomorrow

March 2009 and I was coming to the end of my social science course at the local college and I was sitting staring at the computer screen in disbelief, I had managed to secure 4 conditional university offers, all I had to do was choose the right place for me and finish my course.  Two months later and I had some surprise news, I was expecting a little bundle of joy. People asked if I was upset I wouldn't be going to uni, I simply answered "I am going to be a mum, that is better than going to uni"
