T-shirt Design Kits for Kids

I love finding new ways to keep the children entertained and if it is an activity where they can be creative and put their own stamp on something then that is even better.  They love to draw and paint so I had a look and found the perfect activity to have fun with.

Buytshirtsonline offer a great T-shirt design kit with children in mind.  You can choose from a range of designs such as Hello Kitty and Spiderman.  We chose a truck for Liam and a princess for Sophie.

The kit contained:

  • Two T-shirts (age appropriate)
  • 10 fabric paint pens
  • Two design iron on transfers
  • instructions

When Liam was at school and Sophie was watching something on TV we decided we would iron on the transfers so they would be ready for the kids to decorate.

I get so excited when the kids have a new activity to try.  I couldn't wait for Liam to get in from school so they could make their own design on the back of the T-Shirt.  The paint does take a few hours to dry completely so we decided to wait until later in the evening to let them get creative.

Liam decided he wanted to draw a turtle character on the back of T-shirt and he done this with minimal help.  His confidence has grew recently so we left him to it unless he asked for a bit of help. With Sophie only being 2 daddy helped her with her design.  She loves flowers so it was only right that she had a flower design on hers.

The paint pens were really easy to use and the children had a good grip on them which helps too. I loved the colours they came in, red, blue yellow and so on.  All the basic colours that children know and love.

It was great seeing the smiles on their faces and they really enjoyed creating their own designs.  Liam said "no-one else will have this t-shirt will they Mummy" and I said "no it is unique" to which he said "I can't wait to tell my friends at school"
I can't wait to see the T-shirts once they have dried and are ready to wear.

Liam's turtle character that he painted on by himself.

Sophie's flower design, with help from Daddy

These kits as they are a great way to let your children be creative and it is the perfect activity for a rainy day.

**UPDATE: We washed the t-shirts once the paint was dried before letting the kids wear them.  Sadly the transfers are showing signs of cracking already.  This is only a small issue as the paint stayed in place.
