Twinkl

Both my children love learning new things and I like to sit with them reading, going over the alphabet and the likes.  With Liam being in primary one I have always wanted to be able to continue the work he does at school in the house that way he isn't been taught different things that might confuse him.  This is where Twinkl comes in.

"Twinkl Resources is your first choice for easy to use, trusted and high quality teaching materials for educators and parents worldwide - professionally crafted materials with a personal touch."

I love this website it offers a great variety of topics, on different levels, which Liam will cover in the classroom meaning I can continue his education at home.  This week he has been off school with a nasty virus so he could do some work at home and not miss out or be left behind.

The different levels include: Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.  The topics covered range from English and Maths to Science and languages.  James sat with Liam for a good half hour teaching him German. Why? Simple, Liam just wanted to learn it and he was picking it up quickly. He wouldn't have done this without Twinkl.

I saw with Sophie going over the alphabet and numbers which she enjoyed. Being only 2 she didn't sit for as long as her brother but the key is little sessions at a time.

You can also create your own resources where you can create your own word lists for example.  I am going to make a list of the words Liam learns at school each week so we can go over them at home.

Twinkl offer a forum where you can go on and talk to other parents, teachers etc sharing tips and advice.  You post a question and people will answer.  A great way to meet new people who feel the same way about education as you do.

There is a section for parents where you will find all the information you need and you can keep a progress chart and print off certificates to give to your children for their great work.

They offer three subscription levels for users, one is a free membership that allows access to the majority of the resources; the second is the Gold membership which is the  high quality, low cost option at £29.95 a year; and thirdly the Platinum membership which allows access to all of the resources and is priced at £44.95 per year.

I think the prices are fantastic and  £44.95 is nothing compared to the knowledge your child will have.

    1. I was honestly amazed that he just decided to learn German. It's not something I would discourage, luckily my husband took German at school or I would be lost so I am learning also! Have a look at the site and let me know what you think
