Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland

On May 23rd this year I am holding a coffee morning to raise money for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS).

This is a cause very close to my heart.  As you may have read in a previous post, a very close family member has a life limiting lung condition called COPD.  Over the years we have lost family members to various conditions such as Stroke and heart conditions.

The work CHSS do is so valuable to the people they are helping.  They offer support, advice and someone to talk to.  They have an advice line, run by nurses, for people living with conditions and their families.

Here is how the money raised will help

£50 will provide two hours of warm and friendly reassurance from our registered nurses on our Advice Line (0808 811 0899) providing support not only for those affected but their families too. A listening ear when it is needed most.

£125 will help fund a volunteer driver for a year to drive a service user to their local community support group. Often the only barrier to service users accessing our groups is transport and that is why our drivers are so important.

£200 will pay for two people to attend a 9 week COPD self management course, enabling them to meet others with long term chest illness and learn how to slow the progression of their currently incurable condition.

£400 can help provide communication aids or home adaptions to improve the independence, mobility and dignity for someone who has a chest, heart or stroke illness via our personal support grants scheme.

£800 can help fund a year’s training and support for a Heart Failure Support Volunteer who visits clients in their homes and helps to address the social isolation experienced by so many after a diagnosis of heart failure.

£1,000 could cover the costs of specialist spectroscopy and heart scans in an Aberdeen study evaluating new therapies for heart failure

As you can see the money raised goes far and helps so so many.

If you would like to donate you can visit

Or you can text ANGH80 followed by your donation e.g £1 (up to £10)  to 70070
