Place2Be

As a mother of two, I like to know there are services out there to support my children if they are going through a rough time.  Yes I will be there for them, of course I will, but I can only help them to a certain point.  Sadly 1 in 10 children aged between 5-16 suffer from a mental health condition, that is 1 in 3 from every classroom so it is important for the help to be there.
This is where Place2Be come in.  They provide emotional and therapeutic services in primary and high school settings and help over 94,000 children through talking, play and creative work. They help children who have been affected by bullying, domestic abuse,  neglect and trauma.  That is just a small part of what they do.

Place2Be work in 235 schools across the UK covering, Scotland, England and Wales.  Their work is so important, but like many other charities, they rely on donations from the public to ensure they can continue to support children who so desperately need their help.

This Saturday, May 9th, The Bairn City Rollers are hosting a day full of roller derby fun to raise money for Place2Be.  I have been to a couple of bouts and they are great to watch and it is easy to get swept away in the excitement, a fun day out.

The event is being held at Grangemouth Sports Complex and doors open at 14:30, an hour before the first bout starts but it means you will have time to looks around the various stalls, including Venus's Vault, merchandise from those taking part and did I mention there will be cakes on sale too?

Here is the full programme,

Game 1: Love 'n' Shoves Rookie Rampage

First whistle 15:30

See the mixed rookie ladies teams Love & Shoves battle it out in black and white to get the day started!

Game 2: Belter Skelpers Vs Team Crazy Legs

First Whistle: 17:30

Our main co-ed bout of the day will see our own Belter Skelpers take on skaters from all over forming Team Crazy Legs!

Tickets are priced as follows: £6 (Advance) and £8 on the door.  Children under 14 go free.  You can purchase your tickets by clicking here

Please show your support by going along, take the family, watch roller derby, eat cake, have fun and know the children and the people at Place2Be are grateful for your support.

  5. This is so fantastic - when I think back on my childhood very early on I was having thoughts that I shouldn't have - thoughts that were definitely my mental health being wrong. More awareness of how it does affect children will hopefully bring able change. x

    1. I agree, more awareness of how it affects children needs to be put out there to bring in change. The focus is all too often on adult mental health services x

    1. It is a sad fact that peope dont realise children suffer from Mental health conditions they just assume they are attention seeking/trouble makers. That is why I am so happy there are places like Place2Be to support them and understand x
