Traces Of Me

I love finding a new book and recently I have been reading outside my comfort zone.  It is all to easy too stick to the same genre, sometimes you need to try something new.  For me that came with the Fifty Shades books, which I loved, so when I was given the chance to read Traces Of Me by Tracy Kiss I jumped at the chance. 'a modern day Bridget Jones meets Fifty Shades rendition that is not for the faint hearted'

The story centres around April, who is approaching her 30th birthday, who, as the book starts, is waiting on her date, Shaun, arriving.  April is a shy, quite, plain woman who is overlooked by society, an ugly duckling.  I don't want to give much away as it will only spoil the intensity of the book, trust me it gets intense!!

I totally agree with it being a mix of Bridget Jones and Fifty Shades.  Why? Well, April is not the most confident girl in the world and doesn't love herself the way she should. She only sees the bad things never the good in herself.  Shaun helps her see who she really is but as she starts to change things, such as wearing more make up and the likes, her confidence booms but he does not like it.  As for the Fifty Shades side of it, well, lets just say there's plenty of hot and heavy sex scenes that will leave you a little stunned to say the least.  I love that two of my favourite books have pretty much come together to create Traces Of Me.

The thing that stood out most for me whilst reading this, was how the story taught us to love ourselves no matter what, we are the only ones who can make the changes.  It looks at relationships, how they are fragile and how love doesn't come easy. It is full of important life lessons so it is a must read.

Given the nature of the book I would say over 18s only.

I can relate to the main character in the book. I looked at myself as a plain and nothing special most days being honest. When I met my now husband I was honestly surprised that he found me attractive and liked being with me. That is when I started looking at myself differently. I felt more confident and happy with just being myself.

I am really looking forward to finding out more about April and after that ending I need to know what happens next. I am not going to spoil it for you so you will need to check it out.

If you would like to purchase the book you can find it over on Amazon for the Kindle priced at £1.99 which is a great price for an amazing book,

  1. Sounds more interesting than Fifty Shades of Grey which I wasn't that keen on. I like the fact that the story isn't about some pretty, very young thing.

  9. Glad you enjoyed the book, I've not gone down the 50 shades of grey route, I tend to keep my fiction a bit less raunchy! lol

  10. I have to admit I haven't read 50 Shades of Grey, it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason. I do love Bridget Jones though so perhaps a step out of the comfort zone is needed.

  18. Sounds loads more positive in message than 50 shades which I have been refusing to read all this time as everyone tells me it is sexist and badly written. This sounds much more promising - thanks for sharing!
