Now how many of use like a cheeky curry? I know I love a Chicken Tikka Masala every now and again! But what if I told you that you could have curry at lunch time in just 90 seconds? Introducing Naanster!! Curry wrapped in a naan!!

There are 4 flavours:

  • Chicken Tikka
  • Vegetable Tikka
  • Balti Chicken
  • Beef Madras

I will now talk about each flavour

Chicken Tikka

If you like a mild curry then this is perfect.  Lovely flavours.

Vegetable Tikka

This curry is mild and very sweet, A nice light curry for when you don't want something too heavy.

Balti Chicken

This one has a bit more of a kick to it so if you can only eat a mild curry this is not for you.

Beef Madras

This was a favourite. Full of yummy flavours. Another one for fans of mild.
.

My husband James and my sister Claire also tried the naans so that I could get varied opinions.

James

"I really enjoyed the naans. They are full of flavour and a fantastic quick snack when on the go. The only thing I would say is I would like a bit more filling and some more mango chutney added. This is down to personal preference"

Claire

"I would definitely buy them.  Perfect amount of filling, not too spicy, quick and easy to make, great for lunch and they don't taste like microwave food"

Pros: only takes 90 seconds in the microwave.  Full of flavour. Great variety.

Cons: I personally cant find any. It really does come down to personal preference

Moon Sand Fun

Today my daughter Sophie was due to start a new toddler drama group but sadly due to low numbers the class has been cancelled.

So we decided to have some messy play in the house instead (raining here all day) Out came the Moon Sand and the smile on Sophie's face.  Granny and Grampa bought the kids this a while back, It's a firm favourite!

This one has 2 moulds, one that is fruit and one that is sweets, 3 glasses, 1 mixer, spoons, umbrellas and pink & yellow sand.

It is great for sensory play!! Sophie loved mixing the colours in the blender and making the moulds! She was not too happy when we tidied it away haha. It can get messy but who cares? The main thing is she had a fab time playing with it and really there was very little mess as put a bog sheet down.

I think it is safe to say Santa will be bringing more moulds and colours!

Manchester Dogs home

Yesterday the Manchester Dogs home caught fire.  At least 40 dogs lost their lives with 150 being saved.

First of all I would like to thank for the fire service for their hard work and dedication to saving as many animals as they could and for the amazing work they do every day.

Secondly, if you can, please donate towards the funds being raised to rebuild the dog home that was first opened in 1893.

You can donate online at https://www.justgiving.com/ManchesterDogsHomeMEN
Or you can text MDOG57 followed by £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10

They would be grateful for anything you can offer.

Police have also asked if people in the local area can take donations of bedding, food or bowls to Central Park Police station between11:30am and 2.30pm

Thank you

Black Garlic Pesto

This is the second product that I received from the Garlic Farm.  I have never tried black garlic before and was quite happy to give this a try.

My husband suggested that I try the pesto before using it in a meal.

There is a mix of pesto, basil pine nuts, Parmesan cheese and black garlic.  The pesto is quite thick in texture.

You get a strong taste of the Parmesan coming through the pesto which I loved, however, I did find the black garlic to be quite strong.

I can't handle strong flavours but I do recommend this if you love intense flavours.

You can use the black garlic pesto in Risotto, pasta or with fish.

If you want to try it for yourself it can be found at http://www.thegarlicfarm.co.uk/black-garlic-pesto.aspx priced at £6.95

Peach & Mango chutney with Goats Cheese Crostini

The amazing people at http://www.thegarlicfarm.co.uk/ sent me some of their lovely products. Happy Angela.

One of the products I received it Peach & Mango Chutney. I have never been a fan of chutney, until now!!

My husband, being a chef, suggested I try the chutney with some goats cheese (another favourite of mines) so he made some Peach & Mango with goats cheese crostinis.

First of all he toasted some bread.  Once toasted he used a small circular cutter (one slice of toast made 4 small crostinis).  He then added some soft goats cheese and topped that with some of the Peach & Mango chutney.

The chutney itself has a sweet flavour, with a slight heat, slight acidity and a lovely after taste of curry. So there is a little bit of everything all rolled into one. Delicious little snack!!

My son Liam who is a very fussy eater tried it.  He is now demanding he has it on his toast in the morning before he goes to school. I am delighted he tried something new and loved it!!  Well done to The Garlic Farm!!

I am now converted and cannot wait to try the chutney with some Salmon.

If you would like to buy some of this yummy chutney it can be found at http://www.thegarlicfarm.co.uk/The-Garlic-Farm-Peach-and-Mango-Chutney.aspx At £3.90 a jar you will be crazy not to try it.

Getting Your Child to Care for Their Hair

With children back at school, nursery and playgroup we all know that with playing in such close proximity head lice is a very real possibility.  They may be harmless but the little critters sure know how to make us itch!

What can I do? I hear you cry. The lovely people at Lyclear have the following advice.

Getting your child to take an interest in their own hygiene can be a bit of a struggle. You know full well that in a few years’ time you won’t be able to get them out of the shower, but right now, washing is way down the list of their priorities.

We all remember our parents practically dragging us into the bathroom. Sometimes we’d even tell them we had washed, when really we had just waited for an appropriate length of time until we deemed it safe to tell this little white lie.

Of course, as a parent, even if you get the child into the shower and they do engage in some basic washing, there is one pesky area that the child will often ignore, we’re talking about hair, people.
Sure you can spend week after week washing your child’s hair for them but that’s not going to teach them much except that they can rely on their parents to spoon feed them (you should also stop spoon feeding them before they hit puberty) well into the latter stages of childhood. It will be more effective in the long run if you teach your child how to take care of their own hair. You can turn it into a game or reward them for keeping the hair shiny and clean.

First you should wet your child’s hair with warm water (just how you would yours, in fact the whole process is remarkably similar) and put some shampoo in your child’s hand. Next comes the exciting bit, get them to massage the shampoo into their hair. Give them encouragement as they do so and make sure they keep their eyes closed. Nothing makes a child grumpier than a little shampoo in the eye. It is also important to ensure that they are rubbing the shampoo into their scalp and not just their hair, as this can damage their hair and make it look unhealthy.

Next comes the rinsing. You might need to give them a bit of help with this, at least initially. They are only little after all. Make sure that the shampoo is completely washed out and help them wrap a towel around their head.

So that’s that done, but how often should you encourage a child to wash his or her own hair, they do lead active lifestyles after all. Well, if your child has oily, straight hair and if they happen to be over the age of 12, they should be washing it at least once every other day, particularly if they are the energetic type. Before the age of 12, children’s hair should be washed at least once a week, preferably twice. If the hair is curly and dry their hair should be washed every seven to 10 days.
You can also tell if the child is shampooing too often or too little. If their hair and scalp is oily, then the hair is being washed too little, if they are washing it too often, the hair will probably be dull and dry.

Of course, it’s not how often they rinse and repeat that determines the health of a child’s hair, styling gels that contain chemicals can damage their hair too, so if possible try and pick a hairstyle for your child that doesn’t involve the use of styling products. Use of heat on your child’s hair can also cause some follicle issues, as well as dyeing the hair or putting it in tight ponytails or braids, so it might be best to avoid these kinds of hairstyles for a few years at least.

Sometimes, your child’s hair can succumb to conditions that aren’t really under their control, like lice. If your child does catch lice, the best method for removal is using Lyclear Sensitive Spray. The spray will get rid of lice and their eggs but will also keep the hair soft and shiny.

This may seem like a lot of information, simply to get your child to care about the condition of their hair, but applying the above tips properly and encouraging your child to be more independent should increase their willingness to keep their hair clean. Don’t worry, give them a little time and they’ll soon be experts.
