A Hug In A Box

1 in 4, Let that statistic sink in for a minute. Do you know what it represents? The number of people in the UK who are living with depression right now. A very high number isn't it? So the chances are you will know someone who is going through life with this horrible condition.  I am sure many people will be unsure of what to say to them or how to help.  Well there is one small way you can help and I guarantee it will mean the world.

The Blurt Foundation have come up with a simple yet very sweet way of letting someone know you care and are there for them, the Buddy Box.

The idea behind the box is simple.  Inside you will find different items every month that will benefit those who receive it.  It gives them something to look forward to and goes a long way in helping giving them that boost they need to remind them they are loved no matter what, like a hug in a box.

So what did I get in my box? Let me show you.

Hurraw Lime Lip Balm
I love lip balms!! These little beauties are made from natural ingredients so they are gentle enough to use without irritation. Good enough to eat! Trust me, I could not stop licking my lips when I used this.

Hand Warmer
This has to be the cutest thing ever.  Yes, I squeaked with delight when I opened the box and found him (I have named him Mr Fierce) This is perfect for cold days or for when you just need a little comfort.  These would be great to use when feeling anxious too as it gives you something to hold and focus on. I often fidget when anxious.

12 Coloured Pencils
12 beautiful colours to choose from. Really great quality pencils which I was delighted to receive with this box.  I am sure you know what is coming next.

Calm Colouring Book
Colouring in has been proven to help you relax and helps you to focus when you are feeling anxious and gives you a nice boost when feeling down.  The book also contains beautiful quotes on each page which are guaranteed to help raise your mood and confidence levels too.  This book is a handy size for placing in your bag or pocket for colouring on the go.

Postcards
I love these sweet postcards.  My favourite is the one you write a nice inspirational message on and leave somewhere totally random, like inside a library book, for someone else to find. You never know who will find it and chances are it will make them smile.

Clippers Organic Sleep Easy Infusion
Depression can stop you from getting a good nights sleep which in turn makes functioning the next day harder again.  I gave this tea a try and I felt more relaxed and got a better night sleep, which was much needed!!  With no caffeine, yay, this tea is good for during the day too as it helps you to relax.  A very nice herbal yea. I will be buying more when these run out.

I absolutely love the idea behind the Buddy box. As I said earlier, it can be hard to know what to say to someone as you may worry about upsetting them more.  Sending a Buddy Box will show you care and it will pretty much say everything you want to say, I am here for you.

You can buy a monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly or annual subscription or you can purchase a one-off box too.  Prices are as follows

Monthly - £21.50 per month
Quarterly - £61.50
6 monthly - £117
Annual - £222
One off box £12

There is an option for every budget which is great as it means more hugs can be given to those who really need one.

  2. Over the years, it's become so much easier for people to travel and live in areas far away from where they were brought up, so it's great to have an opportunity to reach out to someone you can't necessarily reach physically!

  6. What a gorgeous idea, I think we all struggle to know what to send in tricky situations, like when friends are depressed or going through a tough time.
