Big Journey Ahead

Well the countdown is into single numbers, 8 days to go, until we get on that train and go to Berwick wooo! I honestly cannot wait yet I can't help but be nervous about the train journey.



I am not anxious as such as I love Berwick, it's a happy place for me, but this is the first big train journey for Liam and Sophie.  We leave at 12:22 from our home town with a change in Motherwell which is only 20 minutes by train.  At Motherwell we have a half hour wait, the kids will love that as they get the chance to see the different trains come and go.  Then at 1316 we depart for Berwick arriving at 14.48 so the journey takes two and a half hours all in.

To make the trip less stressful for all included I took/will take the following steps.

• Booked the train in advance.  This made the fare cheaper, we all love to save money.
• Reserved seats.  I have always reserved seats for long journeys, to me this is essential.
• Activity packs.  They both have colouring books, pencils and paper to keep them amused.
• I will take juice, water, sandwiches an crisps. It is cheaper and I know the kids will like it.
• Play eye spy.  Liam loves this game, Sophie is just learning. Fun way to pass time.

We have packed away most of the clothes etc into the suitcase which just leaves little bits to go in the night before.  My lovely mum and dad are taking the case in their car along with their case and my mum's wheelchair so we don't need to take it on the train with us. I am more organised than usual which is nice.  Just need the day to arrive now!
