So angry



Recently I entered a Magners competition on the Blippar app on my phone.  Let's just say this was a massive mistake.

To take part I had to download the Blippar app which was free, thankfully, then I registered my details.  To enter you had to open the app which then opens a scanner.  Holding the phone over the Magners label on my bottle it scanned the logo then followed the instructions.

Yay I won a pair of Hunter Wellies. I have always taken a screenshot of the winning email or screen when I win anything to keep as proof, in this case I took a screenshot of the winner screen and the my details screen.

This is where the issues started.  I couldn't submit my details.  So I sent the screenshots to Magners who did not reply via email. They did reply on Facebook only to tell me to email them.  I also contacted Blippar and this was their replies.


  


Now you can see why I am not happy.  I know many of you like to enter competitions and I just wanted to make you aware.  So here are some tips when entering.

  • Always take screenshots when you win
  • If a company are taking their time in replying keep at them
  • Prizes can take up to 28 days to arrive so wait until then before making a complaint.
  • If they refuse to send the prize you can contact the ASA

My final piece of advice - AVOID Magners and Blippar competitions at all costs as clearly they are not reliable.

  1. its annoying when that happens me and hubby did not screen shot a prize ages ago on the thing everyone was winning goody bags and vouchers on so couldnt claim

  2. It's not your fault the claim button wasn't working when you won so why deny you the prize? That's terrible.

  4. Completely ridiculous! I entered the same competition and had the same problem - the app just froze when I tried to submit my details. I've sent them a screenshot of the app - they can see my details are filled in on the screenshot!! - and I'm still waiting for them to reply. Not on if they're going to con people out of prizes they've legitimately won!!

    1. I hope they get back to you. I honestly believe they should not be allowed to run competitions if they do this to people. it really is dusgusting and doesnt say much about the brand.

  5. Oh no! What a pain. I'd be angry too. Screenshots are definitely the way forward. I agree with Helen, Super Lucky Di is great help for this kind of thing.
